Student Privacy & FERPA Statement

AskZac is designed to assist educators with communication, planning, documentation, problem-solving, and professional decision-making.

AskZac's own application database is not:

  • A Student Information System (SIS)
  • A Learning Management System (LMS)
  • A permanent student records platform

Connected Google Drive Workspaces

If you choose to connect Google Drive for future workspace features, workspace documents and generated materials are stored in your own Google Drive account, not in AskZac's application database. AskZac stores only limited references and metadata needed to locate those Drive items, such as workspace IDs, Drive folder/file IDs, owner IDs, timestamps, and connection status.

AskZac requests the narrow Google Drive permission that allows it to work with files and folders it creates or that you explicitly use with AskZac. You can revoke Drive access. Revoking access does not automatically delete files from your Google Drive.

AskZac may process document content transiently to provide a response or create a requested workspace artifact, but AskZac is designed not to store document bodies, uploaded files, extracted text, AI-generated workspace content, or student records in Supabase or AskZac-managed object storage.

Protect Student Privacy

When using AskZac, avoid entering unnecessary personally identifiable student information, including:

  • Full student names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Student identification numbers
  • Medical information
  • Protected educational records
  • Other sensitive personal information

Whenever possible, describe situations using general terms or de-identified information.

FERPA Compliance

AskZac is not intended to serve as the official repository for student education records. If you connect Google Drive, you remain responsible for using an account, folder, and district-approved storage environment that you are permitted to use for student-related materials.

Users remain responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, local, district, and institutional privacy requirements, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
