Google API Data Use

AskZac offers optional integrations with Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Docs. AskZac accesses Google user data only after the user chooses to connect or use a Google-integrated feature.

Data AskZac May Access

Depending on the feature the user enables, AskZac may access:

  • Basic Google account information used for sign-in, such as name, email address, and profile information
  • Google Drive files and folders created by AskZac or explicitly opened, selected, or shared with AskZac
  • Gmail messages, conversation threads, recipients, senders, subjects, and drafts when the user enables a Smart Email feature that requires that information
  • Google document text the user explicitly asks AskZac to review or improve

AskZac requests only the permissions needed for an enabled feature. Broader Gmail or Drive permissions are not requested merely for possible future use.

How Google User Data Is Used

Google user data is used only to provide user-facing AskZac features requested by the user, such as creating Drive workspace materials, drafting or improving professional email, summarizing a conversation, or retrieving relevant context for a response. AskZac does not use Google user data for advertising, credit decisions, surveillance, or sale to data brokers.

When AI assistance is requested, the minimum relevant content may be transmitted securely to AskZac's contracted AI service provider to generate the requested result. The provider may temporarily retain API data for abuse monitoring under its API data policy. AskZac does not use that temporary retention as product storage and does not permit Google user data to be used for advertising.

Storage and Retention

Google Drive remains the source of truth for connected workspace files. AskZac stores encrypted Google authorization tokens and limited account, connection, file-reference, and permission metadata needed to operate connected features. AskZac does not build or retain a permanent searchable database, index, summary, or embedding store of Gmail messages, Google document bodies, or retrieved Drive content.

Content retrieved for Smart Email or writing assistance is processed for the current request and discarded by AskZac after the request is complete. Google Drive files intentionally created or saved by the user remain in the user's own Google Drive until the user deletes them.

Sharing and Human Access

AskZac does not sell Google user data. Google user data is shared only with service providers needed to deliver the requested user-facing feature, with the user's consent, or when required for security or by law. AskZac personnel do not read Google user content except with the user's affirmative permission for specific content, when necessary to investigate security or abuse, or when required by law.

User Control and Deletion

Users can disconnect Google access from AskZac and can revoke AskZac from their Google Account permissions. Users may request deletion of AskZac account and connection metadata through the Privacy Request page. Disconnecting AskZac does not delete files that the user chose to save in their own Google Drive.

AskZac's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

AskZac's use of information received through the browser extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The Termly-hosted Privacy Policy below provides additional information about AskZac's privacy practices. This Google API Data Use section should also be included in the Termly policy before restricted Google scopes are enabled.
